Jibbing & Plastering

Yay the jib is going up and the plasterer has started.  Our kitchen, butlers pantry, laundry and dining room are starting to take shape :-)

The question is:  do you call it a pantry, a scullery, a butlers pantry or just pantry?????  Its a room that will house a sink, all the tinned & dried food, crockery etc etc.

Here's a few pictures so far of it all taking shape

Now that the jib is going up its making the kitchen really light and airy, a real change from what it used to be with the dark cupboards and yellow/cream walls and multi coloured lino flooring.

We ended up buying the Noirot wall panel heaters.  We bought three in total, one for the hallway, dining room and upstairs open plan area.  We have only been able to utilise the upstairs one so far, as its the only one connected at present!  Its a great heater, very quiet.

More jib being delivered...

After the builder finished part of the jibbing on Thursday, on Sunday we noticed a leak coming from underneath the jib, below the kitchen window and flowing outside too!!!! The builder advised us to remove the jib to check the pipes.  We did this, and found that he had screwed into the cold water copper pipe!  We advised the builder who couldn't believe it!!  I think I jinxed him,  as I was asking the builder on Thursday how he manages to put the jib up without missing the pipes!!! Dave, my hubby managed to fix the pipe temporarily by putting a piece of plastic around the pipe and a steel band to hold it in place until the plumber arrived on Monday to fix it properly by soldering it.

leak shown on the paving outside too!

The builder returned on Wednesday to finish off the jibbing and build the half wall between the dining and kitchen for the breakfast bar.

The plasterer was supposed to have been here on Monday, to do a bit more but was awol for the day!!!  He did thankfully turn up on Tuesday and returned again on Friday to finish the plastering off.  So, Dave and I are now ready to seal the jib board ready for the kitchen cabinets to be installed.
